In Factional Warfare, wouldn't it be cool if say you fight for the Gallente, so your armor suits and tanks have a +5% HP increase, and blasters and AR's have a +10% reload speed? Small bonuses like that for using your racial gear on the appropriate side.
Lore reasons: "You have access to Gallente Engineers, your armor is now 5% stronger"
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

Imo CCP should make FW gear better. Once the market comes in we will sell our LP bought gear. No one will buy our faction stuff for a jacked up price when the only difference is skill req's. Just a slim margin better.
A few things about your "after shields are comparable" comment: A. If you're Caldari you will get similar bonuses, so the net effect is zero. B. Shields are most definitely comparable.
People keep throwing at me armor fits straight out of an EFT warrior's den. They tend to have a huge flaw that the user says "can be easily countered by this" and usually requires logi support or some equipment that closes you off from ammo or **** like that.
In general, armor and shields are equal, especially since the Combat Rifle and Rail Rifle are monsterous, beating up the AR in every situation, and are anti armor weapons.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

What do you prefer and why? Yeah, at basic level you could argue for an imbalance. But honestly, at the basic level you repair so slowly, compared to the shields repair rate... I am not sure, at the basic level it just seems like armor trades massive amounts of repair for HP.
At the proto level, shields get 3x the HP per extender, while armor doesn't even gain 2x, so the gap closes to the point where shields and armor are nearly equal in HP. (Since you have to use armor reps, unlike shields where you just stack extenders) But armor gets faster reps (from 2hp/s to 5hp/s per repairer), so it evens out.
And I use Gallente because I use everything Gallente when I can. I have access to Proto Caldari Assault and I wreck stuff just as much as my Gallente.
It does require a more mobile playstyle, taking advantage of your speed.
The most I would argue is to increase extender stats to this: 33/44/66, instead of 22/33/66. Making basic and advanced extenders better than they currently are, but leaving proto extenders the same.

Seriously? On my Gallente, from this bonus I would gain +15 HP, that's less than half an AR bullet.
